Tour Overview

Experience two of Ghana’s most important attractions in one unforgettable day from Accra. Explore the historic Cape Coast Castle and its powerful connection to the transatlantic slave trade before travelling into the tropical rainforest of Kakum National Park for one of West Africa’s most famous canopy-walk experiences.

We will pick you up from your hotel or agreed location in Accra for the journey to Ghana’s Central Region, where history and nature come together in one remarkable day. At Cape Coast Castle, you will explore the courtyards, dungeons, museum and Door of No Return while learning about the castle’s role in the transatlantic slave trade and the experiences of the people who passed through it.
We will continue to Kakum National Park, one of Ghana’s best-known natural attractions, where tropical rainforest surrounds the famous canopy walkway. After a short forest walk, you can cross seven suspended bridges stretching approximately 333 metres through the treetops, reaching heights of up to 27 metres above the forest floor. We will later begin our return journey to Accra.

An early departure is recommended because of the travelling distance.
Kakum is roughly a four-hour drive from Accra depending on conditions.
Comfortable walking shoes are strongly recommended for the forest trail.
The canopy walkway is elevated and may not suit guests afraid of heights.
A shorter exit is available for visitors who do not complete every bridge.
Lightweight clothing is recommended for Kakum’s humid rainforest environment.
The canopy experience can be affected by severe weather conditions.

I haven't regretted it! The communication was flawless, all activities were running gin time, the itinerary they put together made sense and gave me an impression of the country. Most importantly, in particular driver Michael and guide Victoria made the experience very fun and enjoyable! Traveling in West Africa can be difficult, especially with border crossings and visa restrictions.  However, with the help of Samap Travels, we were able to successfully and painlessly cross each border.  We were guided in the process of getting our visas and making sure we were prepared at each border, which can be stressful for a novice traveler.  Verified Interesting Piece of Slave Trade History The Badagry tour is an interesting addition to the slavery sites along the West African coast. It was a former slave who was given freedom in Brazil and went back to present day Nigeria to organize the departure of more slaves to Brazil. Answered questions and also gave us an insight of the attractions as I am not from Nigeria but my spouse is from a different part of Nigeria. They gave us a history which I totally enjoyed. Definitely I would use their services again as long as they’re around! The conservation center was interesting! Loved the atmosphere.
