Overview

Calabar is the capital city of Cross River state which is located in the Southern part of Nigeria known as the Niger Delta region and Obudu Mountain Resort also known as Obudu Cattle Ranch is one of Africa’s finest and most interesting and spectacular tourist destinations.

While in the state, we will tour the city to experience the sights and sounds including its night life. Tourist attractions like Cross River National park which shares a border with Cameron and the great Kwa falls, attend the annual Calabar festival if your tour is in December, Obudu mountain resort, slave trade tour, amongst other activities are top tourist attractions in the State.

Itinerary

Day 1 :

1. The Slave Museum Calabar- The slave history museum in Calabar keeps relics of the transatlantic slave trade and modern-day slavery. Sitting on the site of a 15th-century slave-trading warehouse, exhibits explore local slave markets, the grim bits and pieces of the slave trade including chains and shackles, and the diversity of currencies used to purchase people, such as copper bars, brass bells and flutes.

2. National Museum Calabar: This was formerly the Government house during the Colonial rule which is said to have been built in Britain and then shipped in bits to Calabar in the late 1800s. The National Museum Calabar which is made of old Scandinavian pine has stood for centuries preserving old relics mostly documents, furnishings, and artifacts used during the Colonial Administration. The museum which overlooks the Calabar creek is a good place to learn about the Efik history while browsing through the old items carefully listening to the tour guide taking you back in time.

3. Cross River National Park: Cross River National park is a sanctuary to almost extinct animals, plants and faunas like the drill monkeys, Red fox, leopards and many more and it is the most preserved tropical rainforest in West Africa. It spreads from Oban through to Okwangwo over a landmass of 720 square kilometres which took a period of three years to be fully established.

4. Kwa waterfalls is regarded as Nigeria’s own tropical paradise. Kwa waterfalls is made of 234 well-arranged staircases and settles into a pool of water at its base. Although this waterfall is very spectacular, even more inviting is the beach at the bank of the pool which it settles into.

Day 2 :

Obudu Mountain Resort: Obudu Mountain resort is comprised of heights and miles of rolling highs and mountain which is guaranteed to give you a double take on your first visit. The serene and picturesque environment is great for a good escape from civilisation into the unknown which is sure you would enjoy to the utmost.
