Gurara Waterfalls is one of the major tourist sites in Nigeria and is located in Gurara, few hours from Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
If you are a lover of nature, you will love Gurara waterfalls which is surrounded by rocks and mountains. One of the major tourist sites in Nigeria and few hours drive from Abuja, the sight is beautiful and breathtaking, the calm atmosphere is fresh and cool and the environment is pristine, with lots of trees, plants, flowers supplying fresh air and oxygen. You will be welcomed with the sound of the water cascade, a few meters away from the parking lot.
There are different areas of the waterfall. The lookout point, the sandy shore part where you can do pinics and barbeque, the rocky front at the waterfall base where you can sunbath if you wanted and a swimming area where you can take dip. The locals fish there also so its possible to get catfish and some other types.
It’s easier to descend the waterfalls but when you are ascending, it’s like you are going hiking. You have to descend some rocky stairs which is very steep so you have to be careful when descending, , You can sit close to the water flowing from the waterfall to reflect on the past and look into the future as you commune with nature in a quiet scenery. It’s a place for romantic getaways, family picnics, nature lovers and students.
You can bring along your swimming gear, hat, sun screen, nice hiking sneakers and pack extra warn clothes. You can also get on a boat and explore further the beauty and magnificence of Gurara waterfall.
